Early Times Report RS PURA, Dec 16: Government Degree College (GDC), R.S. Pura, in collaboration with the Women's Development Corporation and the National Minorities Development Corporation, New Delhi, successfully hosted an Awareness-Cum-Loan Mela on its premises. The event, coordinated by the Women Development Cell under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour and the supervision of Dr. Neena Gupta Rohmetra, Convenor Women Development Cell and Head, Department of English, saw active participation from faculty members and students of the college. Mr. Shashikant Sharma, District Incharge of J&K State Women's Development Corporation, delivered the welcome address, highlighting various government schemes and financial opportunities designed to help students grow and excel in all spheres of life. Mrs. Atisha Sethi, Child Development Project Officer, discussed employment challenges faced by women from minority communities. She underscored the compounded barriers they face due to intersecting factors such as gender, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, emphasizing the importance of fostering inclusivity and equity in the workforce. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour addressed the gathering, stressing the significance of empowering young women through quality education, vocational training, and digital literacy to ensure their future success in the job market. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Shashikant Sharma.
