DODA, Dec 16: In a major success, a joint team of Doda Police and the Forest Department foiled an attempt to illegally smuggle timber on the Changa-Tantly Road in the Gandoh area. Acting on a reliable tip-off, authorities intercepted a vehicle carrying timber around 2:00 AM. The vehicle was driven by Rustum Zargar, along with two others, Baber and Zehran, all residents of Kilhotran. Upon investigation, the timber was found to have been extracted from a Kail concession in F-6, assigned to Mohd Ashraf Butt of Kilhotran. The transportation of the timber violated transit rules, and a case has been registered under the Indian Forest Act (IFA)-1927. Further investigation is ongoing. |
