Early Times Report KATHUA, Dec 21: In a significant breakthrough against illegal liquor trade, J&K Police Kathua arrested a bootlegger and seized 58 bottles of JK Excise Desi Whisky at Lakhanpur. Acting on reliable information, a police team led by Inspector Tribhawan Khajuria, SHO PS Lakhanpur, under the supervision of DySP DAR Kathua Subash Chander-JKPS, apprehended the accused, Jog Raj, son of Mukhtiyar Singh from Mehtabpur, Kathua district. The illicit consignment was being transported on a motorcycle (Reg. No. JK08J-0357). The seized whisky bottles, each containing 350 ml, were allegedly intended for illegal sale in the Lakhanpur area for illegitimate profit. A case under FIR No. 141/2023 U/S 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur, and further investigation is underway. SSP Kathua Shobhit Saksena IPS emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in illegal liquor trade. The public has lauded the efforts of Kathua Police in apprehending the accused and curbing the illicit liquor trade, hoping it deters others from engaging in such unlawful activities. |
