Awareness programme on entrepreneurship at gdc Thathri | | | Early Times Report
Thathri, Dec 21: The department of Economics and College Literary Committee in collaboration with the Jammu Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute organised an awareness programme on entrepreneurship and Jammu & Kashmir Startup Policy, 2024-27. The whole event was organised under the able guidance and patronage of the college Principal Dr Javid Iqbal. The awareness event was organised exclusively for the students of the College. The programme was inaugurated with a formal welcome address by Dr Javid Iqbal who highlighted the importance of entrepreneurial skills to become Atma Nirbhar which is considered as the greatest mission of our government. The programme included various components such as the initiatives launched by the various govt and non- govt organisations such as EDI. Prof Mohd Saleem, HoD Economics highlighted the need for the skill and technical education among the students who are pursuing undergraduate courses in higher education institutions. He said the focus of the colleges must be on technical education that could help us to generate employment. The guest lecture on the occasion was delivered by Dr Shabir Majeed, District Nodal Officer, JK EDI. Dr Shabir in his address highlighted the fact that more than 3 lac applications were received for a 4th class post in the UT of J&K and even Phd holders applied for such positions which do not commensurate with their educational qualifications. So the need of the hour is that we need to explore all the resources available in order to help our students to have a dignified employment and in that direction GDC Thathri is taking a lead by bringing such initiatives and vocational programmes which will uplift the creativity and ingenious approach of the students for their future. |
