Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 23: The Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association (NZIEA), representing LIC employees in Jammu & Kashmir, celebrated its 69th Foundation Day on December 22, 2024. Under the leadership of Comrade Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secretary, the day was marked with enthusiasm across LIC offices in the region. At the D.O. Cell in Jammu, the Association's flag was hoisted by Vice President Comrade Dinesh Kumar Sharma. Addressing the gathering, Com. Pawan Gupta emphasized NZIEA's legacy since its establishment in 1956, highlighting its struggles to protect LIC and its fight against policies perceived as anti-people, including privatization, inflation, unemployment, and disinvestment in LIC. He reflected on the Association's historical victories, including the struggle against automation (1965-1969), the fight for bonuses, opposition to the LIC Split Bill (1980), and resistance to the Malhotra Committee report. He called for broader unity among the working class to tackle challenges affecting farmers, workers, and youth, while reaffirming the Association's commitment to safeguarding the public sector. Prominent members who attended included Com. Rajesh Gupta (Joint Secretary), Com. Rajesh Kumar (Treasurer), Com. Raj Kumar (Office Secretary), Com. Priya Sharma (Women Sub-Committee), and Com. Harkesh Kumar Singh (Secretary, Jammu-3). Celebrations were also organized across various locations, with R.P. Singh at Jammu-2, Surat Singh at Samba, Jagdish at R.S. Pura, Sham Singh at Udhampur, Vikas and Vinod Sharma at Rajouri, Anmol Sharma at Doda, Raj Kumar at Poonch, and Vijay Verma and Mohan Lal at Kathua.
