Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 23: A grand event was organized today at the Directorate of Horticulture, Jammu, to mark Kisan Diwas, under the chairmanship of Director Horticulture Jammu, Sh. C.L. Sharma. The event witnessed active participation from a large number of farmers from Jammu and Samba districts, alongside officers and officials of the Horticulture Department. Director Horticulture highlighted the importance of Kisan Diwas in promoting awareness of the invaluable contributions of farmers to the nation's social and economic development. He emphasized the achievements of the horticulture sector and its role in improving farmers' livelihoods through various developmental programs. Addressing the gathering, the Director detailed the benefits of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), urging farmers to leverage projects like Farm Mechanization and Automation, Production of Designer Plants for High-Density Plant Promotion, Orchard Rejuvenation, and Development of Rainfed Areas. During the event, certificates of appreciation were distributed to progressive farmers for their remarkable achievements in horticulture. The Director also praised Neeraj Prajapati, who spearheaded a campaign to promote departmental schemes, especially HADP and MIDH, among the farming community. Notably, Prajapati covered over 1100 kilometers on a bicycle across Jammu Province in the campaign's first phase. He was honored with a certificate of appreciation for his dedication and efforts. The event proceedings were conducted by Horticulture Development Officer, Dr. Nazran Khan, who ensured the program's smooth flow. The celebration of Kisan Diwas successfully brought farmers and officials together, fostering awareness and enthusiasm for sustainable agricultural and horticultural practices. |
