Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Dec 25: The Department of Political Science at Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur, under the guidance of IQAC and Principal Dr. Nalini Pathania, organized a symposium on the theme "Corruption in India: A Menace to Good Governance" at the college campus. The event aimed to instill values of integrity, ethics, and vigilance in students, while raising awareness about the crucial role of good governance and civil society in national development. Dr. Nalini Pathania, the chief guest, congratulated the Department of Political Science for organizing the event and emphasized the importance of ethics, integrity, and democracy in governance. She encouraged students to participate in such events to build strong moral character and ethics. Prof. Swarna Devi, HOD of Political Science, welcomed the participants and highlighted the broad definition of corruption, noting that it goes beyond bribery and includes smaller acts like tardiness in teaching or absenteeism in classes. She urged students to avoid such behaviors and remain vigilant against corruption in all forms. A total of 12 students participated in the symposium, presenting their viewpoints on the issue. Jahnvi Bakshi secured first place, followed by Diksha in second and Tania Patyal in third. The event's jury included Dr. Ravinder Kumar, HOD Mathematics, Prof. Yash Paul, HOD History, and Prof. Shama Rani, Assistant Professor of Dogri. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Roohul Amin Malik, Lecturer in Political Science. The event was organized by Prof. Swarna Devi, Dr. Nazim Mohi Ud Din, Dr. Tanveer Ahmad Lone, and Dr. Roohul Amin Malik, with other faculty members in attendance. |
