Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 25: Taruun Uppal, Chairman of the Nirbhay Bharat Foundation, has raised concerns over the new reservation policies in Jammu & Kashmir, arguing that they unfairly disadvantage merit-based students. He stated that these policies undermine the efforts of open-merit students, depriving them of fair opportunities. Uppal criticized the emphasis on quota-based admissions, stating, "The youth of Jammu & Kashmir deserve an equitable platform to pursue their aspirations. The current reservation policies marginalize hardworking students, prioritizing quotas over merit, which is unjust." The Nirbhay Bharat Foundation has been monitoring the impact of these policies, highlighting how open-merit students face exclusion. Uppal further emphasized, "Merit-based education is essential for a thriving society. These policies are depriving countless young individuals of the chance to excel." The Foundation urged the state leadership, including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, to intervene and ensure fairness for all students, pledging to continue advocating for equal opportunities for youth across the region. |
