Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 26: The Department of Mathematics at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women (PSPS GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, celebrated National Mathematics Day with great enthusiasm. The event began with the rendition of "Zero Diya Bharat Ne" by Ms. Anu and Ms. Rajni Devi (Semester 5). Dr. S.P. Saraswat, Principal of the College, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and encouraged students to develop a passion for mathematics. Dr. Renu Anand, HoD Mathematics, welcomed the guests and highlighted the life and achievements of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the legendary mathematician. Jury members Dr. Shally Gupta, Dr. Kamaljeet Kour (M.A.M. College Jammu), Dr. Rawan Kumar, and Dr. Yash Paul (GCW Gandhi Nagar) inspired students by discussing Ramanujan's contributions and the importance of mathematics in India's development. Over 100 students attended the celebrations, with 30 participating in activities like a poster-making competition, mathematics quiz (held on Dec 23), and poetry recitation competition (held on Dec 24). The events showcased students' creativity and passion for mathematics.
