Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 27: The Departments of Environmental Sciences and Punjabi, in collaboration with the NSS units of SPMR College of Commerce, organized an awareness lecture on 'Organ and Tissue Donation' as part of a series of activities under Veer Bal Diwas. The event commenced with a two-minute silence in tribute to the late former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. Anshu Sharma, Consultant IEC/Media, SOTTO J&K, was the resource person for the lecture. She delivered an informative presentation on organ and tissue transplantation, covering key topics such as donor eligibility, types of donors, and the standard operating protocol for transplantation. Ms. Sharma also highlighted the growing demand for organ donations and addressed several myths surrounding the process. At the end of the session, several faculty members and students pledged their organs and tissues for donation, furthering the cause. Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal of the college, commended the organizers for conducting the lecture on such an important issue. The event was coordinated by Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, NSS Program Officer, Prof. Esha Abrol, HOD Environmental Sciences, Dr. Deepak Pathania, NSS Program Officer, and Dr. Mamta Rani, HOD Punjabi. Faculty members including Dr. Chetna Gupta, Dr. Ashraf, Prof. Shaji, Dr. Sunal, Dr. Roomi, Prof. Binny, Prof. Sindhu, Prof. Sabia, Ravi Kumar, Kusha, and others attended the program. |
