Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 27: Ashok Sharma, Director of School Education Jammu, emphasized the importance of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) as a fundamental right for every child in Jammu & Kashmir. Speaking at a workshop organized by the National Development Foundation (NDF) Jammu in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha J&K, the Directorate of School Education Jammu, and UNICEF India, he reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening ECCE in the region's education system. The workshop, attended by around 100 Heads of Institutions (HOIs), aimed to promote leadership and awareness in ECCE practices as outlined in the National Education Policy 2020. In his address, Sharma highlighted the initiatives undertaken to establish kindergartens across the Jammu division to meet the needs of pre-primary education. He stressed the importance of developing good habits, social behavior, and basic life skills among young learners through age-appropriate education. Subha Mehta, Joint Director School Education, along with Dr. Bilal Rashid Mir, Deputy Director Planning, and other officials from Samagra Shiksha J&K, sensitized participants to their roles in advancing ECCE. Rajiv Khajuria, President of NDF, underlined the organization's commitment to facilitating ECCE as a key component of the NEP 2020. The workshop featured resource sessions by educators Jaswinder Kour, Monika Dogra, and Sarita Sharma, focusing on best practices for pre-primary education. The event was coordinated by Sunny Kumar, Programme Manager NDF, with Nisha Pandita serving as stage secretary. Director Ashok Sharma expressed appreciation for NDF's technical support and assured continued collaboration to enhance pre-primary education in the region. |
