Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 14: Former Minister and Zonal President, JKNC Central Zone, Babu Rampaul has reiterated his demand for restoration of full-fledged statehood to Jammu & Kashmir and urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to fulfill their promise given to people of J&K, who are deeply frustrated due to constant discrimination being meted out to J&K people by the Centre due to procrastination in restoring Statehood.
Rampaul was addressing the party workers during a meeting in which Rajinder Kumar was nominated as Joint Secretary of the Central Zone. The meeting was organised by Dr. Vikas Sharma, Coordinator Jammu District and Secretary of the Central Zone of JKNC and graced by Babu Rampaul, President of JKNC Central Zone, as the Chief Guest, while Ankush Abrol, Provincial Joint Secretary was the Guest of Honour.
Former Minister expressed concern over delay in restoration of the Statehood despite promises made in Parliament and commitments expressed before the Supreme Court of India, adding that the Centre's reluctance and rigidity have prevented any concrete progress toward restoring statehood.
He emphasized that restoring statehood is critical to honoring the democratic aspirations of the people, as reflected in the mandate ,they expressed in the 2024 Assembly Elections. "The restoration of Statehood will ensure the transfer of power to the people, which are the cornerstone of democracy," he asserted.
Rampaul emphasized the people's high expectations from the central government, asserting that granting full-fledged Statehood would cater to the larger interests of both J&K people and the country.
Expressing concern over the delay in restoring statehood to J&K, Rampaul warned that prolonged inaction could foster discontent among the region's people. He reaffirmed the National Conference's commitment, under the leadership of Hon'ble Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Jenab Omar Abdullah for promoting democratic governance and socio-economic welfare across Jammu and Kashmir.
Rampaul referred to the major initiatives taken by the previous Omar Abdullah-led government during the past few months, emphasizing that National Conference remains committed to the welfare and development of the both the regions and their sub regions. He assured the people that the new government will address their grievances and take Jammu and Kashmir forward in terms of peace, progress and prosperity.
