Kishtwar police arrest two drug peddlers

KISHTWAR, Jan 14: Continuing its relentless drive against the menace of drugs, District Police Kishtwar arrested two drug peddlers at separate location, recovered 08 grams heroin-like narcotic substances from their possession.
SSP Kishtwar Sh. Javaid Iqbal Mir-JKPS, while sharing the details, stated that during routine patrolling and frisking in the Indira Nagar area of Kishtwar, a team led by SHO PS Kishtwar Insp. Firdous Ahmed under the supervision of senior officers, intercepted a suspicious individual. Upon questioning, he identified himself as Arsalan Ahmed, son of Khursheed Ahmed, resident of Huller, Kishtwar. On search patrolling party recovered heroin-like narcotic substance, wrapped in aluminum foil, weighing about 3.05 grams form his possession. In this connection, a case FIR No. 15/2025 U/Sec. 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar, and the investigation is underway.
In another location, the patrolling party of Police Station Kishtwar, while conducting frisking in the Poochal area, apprehended another suspicious pedestrian. The accused, identified as Imran Hussain, son of Ghulam Nabi Giri, resident of Machgadi Poochal, Kishtwar, while his checkin patrolling party recovered heroin-like narcotic substance weighing about 4.05 grams form his possession. In this regard case FIR No. 18/2025 U/Sec. 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered in this regard, and further investigations are in progress.
SSP Kishtwar has issued a strong warning to all drug peddlers operating in the district, stating that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in the illegal trade of narcotics. He reiterated the police's commitment to eradicating the drug menace and protecting the youth from falling prey to such activities. SSP Kishtwar further assured that no individual, regardless of influence, will be spared if found involved in such heinous acts.
J&K Police District Kishtwar appeals to the general public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding the illegal drug trade.
