SAMBA, Jan 15: In a significant crackdown against bovine smuggling, Samba Police arrested two smugglers and rescued 19 bovines near Police Station Ghagwal. The accused were apprehended during a vehicle check at NHW Tapyal. A truck (PB06N-8666) transporting the bovines illegally was intercepted after it tried to evade the checkpoint, damaging a road barrier in the process. Upon inspection, police found 19 bovines tied cruelly without valid transport permits. The arrested smugglers, Showkat Ali and Umer Khan, residents of Dera Baba, Reasi, now face charges under FIR No. 07/2025, with multiple sections of law applied. Investigations are ongoing. |
