Early Times Report RAMBAN, Jan 15: As part of the ongoing Road Safety Month awareness campaign, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Ramban, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, launched a special awareness and enforcement drive targeting two-wheeler riders without helmets. Led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Sheetal Sharma, the initiative aimed to emphasize the importance of helmet safety for riders and pillion passengers. Conducted at prominent checkpoints across the district, the drive focused on creating awareness about the risks of riding without adequate protection. In a proactive approach, the ARTO and her team ensured that no rider proceeded without a helmet. Violators were stopped, educated about safety risks, and encouraged to purchase helmets on the spot to comply with regulations. Interacting with the two wheeler riders, ARTO Sheetal Sharma said, "Our goal is not just to penalize violators but to instil a sense of responsibility. Helmets are vital safety gear that can save lives in accidents." The public lauded the department's initiative, with many riders promptly adopting helmet usage. The drive not only enforced compliance but also fostered a culture of road safety among two-wheeler users. The MVD Ramban plans to conduct similar drives across the district, aiming to minimize accidents and fatalities through strict enforcement and behavioral change. The department has appealed to the public to prioritize their safety and diligently follow traffic rules. |
