Valedictory function of NSS winter camp held

JAMMU, Jan 16: The valedictory function of the week-long NSS Winter Camp (4th-14th January 2025) was organized at Government Degree College (GDC), Sidhra with great enthusiasm. The event, graced by Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Rakwal, Principal of the college, as the chief guest, showcased the activities and achievements of the camp.
The program began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, accompanied by a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana by Kajal and Ambika. Dr. Purvaiya Hans, NSS Programme Officer, delivered a welcome address, presenting a detailed account of the various activities undertaken during the camp.
Throughout the week, a wide range of activities were conducted, including:
Campus Beautification and Cleanliness Drives
Sports and Yoga Sessions
Painting Competitions and Extempore
Community Awareness Rally and Extension Lectures
A one-day excursion to Surinsar Lake
Cultural Programs including Lohri celebrations
These activities not only engaged the participants but also instilled in them a sense of responsibility and community service.
The valedictory function featured vibrant performances by NSS volunteers. Highlights included:
A thrilling dance performance by Kajal
Poetry recitation by Iqra, Asmina, and Sunil
A Dogri folk dance by Kajal and Ambika, which captivated the audience
A melodious song by Muzaika
Presentations on "Social Media" by Muzaika and Asif Yusuf, discussing its societal impact
The prize distribution ceremony honored outstanding participants:
Best NSS Volunteers: Ambika and Asif Iqbal
Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to winners of various competitions
Sapling pots were presented to the college's non-teaching staff for their contributions
Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Rakwal applauded the dedication of the NSS volunteers and encouraged them to continue serving the community with sincerity and commitment. He emphasized the importance of spreading values like truth, kindness, and honesty.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary and was coordinated by NSS volunteers Zaida Kouser and Rehan. The function was organized under the guidance of Dr. Rakwal, with the support of faculty members and NSS Programme Officers.
The valedictory function marked the successful culmination of the camp, leaving a lasting impact on all participants.
