National Voter’s Day Celebrated at GDC Hiranagar

Hiranagar, Jan 25: Government Degree College (GDC) Hiranagar marked National Voter’s Day with a series of engaging activities aimed at promoting the importance of voting rights and democratic participation. The celebrations included a pledge-taking ceremony, a signature campaign, and an exciting quiz competition. The quiz competition saw enthusiastic participation from four teams: Voter’s, Election, Constitution, and Citizen. After a spirited contest, the Election team, represented by Saloni, Tamanna, and Neha from different semesters, emerged victorious, securing first place.
The event was organized under the leadership of ELC Convener Prof. Amit Sharma and NSS Program Officer Prof. Shapia Shameem. Prof. Amit Sharma inaugurated the event, emphasizing the crucial role of National Voter’s Day in fostering democracy and encouraging active participation in elections.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the college, applauded the efforts of the ELC and NSS units for raising awareness about voting rights. She highlighted the importance of each citizen’s active role in the democratic process.
The program was skillfully conducted by Dr. Sharma Ritu Raj Kumar from the Department of Political Science. The quiz competition was judged by Dr. Rajni, Prof. Balvinder, and Dr. Inaam-ul-Haq, with Dr. Nasir playing a significant role in the event’s successful execution. Through these activities, GDC Hiranagar not only raised awareness but also motivated students to exercise their voting rights responsibly, contributing to the nation’s democratic ethos
