Pledge taking ceremony and awareness lecture held | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Jan 25: GDC Neeli Nallah, Udhampur, celebrated National Voters Day with a pledge-taking ceremony and an awareness lecture on New Criminal Law and Traffic Rules under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Seema Arora, Principal of the college. The event began with students and staff taking a pledge under the theme "Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure," emphasizing the importance of electoral participation. Dr. Sunil Tanoch, HOD Sociology, highlighted the significance of National Voters Day, which marks the foundation of the Election Commission of India and aims to motivate young voters. The program continued with an awareness lecture featuring resource persons Mr. Nishant, SHO Garhi, and Mr. Ridhim, SI. Mr. Nishant discussed the New Criminal Law, focusing on reforms that enhance justice and prioritize the rights of victims, particularly women, children, and marginalized communities. Mr. Ridhim educated attendees on updated traffic rules and the J&K Traffic Police's mission to promote road safety and reduce accidents. Dr. Sunil Tanoch emphasized the importance of legal and traffic awareness among students and expressed gratitude to the resource persons for their insightful contributions. The interactive session that followed allowed participants to clarify doubts, further enriching their understanding. The event, attended by faculty members including Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Dr. Mubariq Mahire, Dr. Muntazir, and Dr. Zahoor Mir, concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mubariq Mahire.
