| GDC Paloura celebrates National Voter's Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 25: Electoral Literacy Club, Department of Political Science in collaboration with NCC and NSS Units of GDC Paloura celebrated National Voter's Day under the able guidance of Principal of the college, Dr. Kulvinder Kour.
This year, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is celebrating its 75th year of service. This Year's Theme "Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure" is a continuation of last year's theme emphasizing the importance of participation in the electoral process, and encouraging voters to take pride in exercising their franchise.
With a view to promoting democratic electoral participation, the students and faculty members of college took the Voters Pledge under the aegis of Electoral Literacy Club of the college. The event began with an address given by Prof. Amit Bhalla, department of political science who highlighted the importance of the day. This was followed by a Pledge, administered by the Principal of the college, Dr. Kulvinder Kour which gave impetus to inclusive and qualitative electoral participation. The pledge echoed the need to give the youth a sense of empowerment, pride and inspire them to exercise their franchise. |
