GDC Pouni celebrates youth engagement with creative, civic activities | | | Early Times Report POUNI, Jan 25: The SVEEP Cell and Literacy Club of Government Degree College, Pouni, successfully organized a week of events aimed at fostering creativity, critical thinking, and civic engagement among students. The week kicked off with an Essay Writing Competition on January 20, 2025, where students from various departments showcased their writing skills on the theme, "The Role of Youth in Strengthening Indian Democracy." The competition saw a remarkable response with well-researched and thought-provoking essays. On January 22, 2025, a Poster Making Competition was held, where students created visually impactful posters focusing on the importance of youth participation in democratic processes. The creativity on display was impressive, and the best posters were exhibited in the college's main hall, with winners receiving recognition for their artistic talents. The highlight of the week was the Symposium on Youth and Democracy, held on January 25, 2025, under the theme "The Role of Youth, Especially Women, in Strengthening Indian Democracy." The event featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions with students, faculty, and guest speakers. The symposium aimed to inspire young minds to engage actively in democratic processes and recognize their role in shaping the nation's future. Dr. Prem Singh, Convener of the SVEEP Cell, began the event with a welcome speech, followed by a pledge-taking ceremony. Students passionately expressed their views on democracy and gender equality, sharing their perspectives through speeches and creative presentations. Dr. Udhay Bhanu, Principal, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement and the unique contributions women can make in leadership roles. He thanked all participants, judges, and organizers for their active involvement in making the events a success. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bilal Ahmed from the Department of Political Science. The symposium was attended by a large number of students, faculty members, and distinguished guests.
