Early Times Report REASI, Feb 1: Continuing its relentless drive against drug abuse, Reasi Police arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered 5.53 grams of heroin during a surprise naka (checkpoint) operation in Katra. A police team from Police Station Katra, led by SHO Katra, intercepted Rinku, son of Manohar Lal, resident of Ward No. 11, Keshav Nagar Matyal, Katra, while he was traveling on a motorcycle (JK14J-2409) from Nomain Link Road towards Katra town. Upon frisking, heroin-like substance was found in his possession. Following the seizure, FIR No. 29/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Katra, and an investigation has been launched to trace the supply chain and other associates involved. Reasi Police is implementing a multi-pronged strategy to combat drug abuse, combining awareness campaigns with strict enforcement measures. Drug peddlers are being booked under the PITNDPS Act, and an Anti-Drug Helpline (9070907017) has been introduced to enable the public to report drug-related activities while ensuring caller anonymity.
