Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 1: A workshop on Research Methodology, Science Communication, and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), titled A Futuristic Perspective, was successfully held at CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu. The event saw active participation from around 100 researchers, students, and professionals from Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab, all eager to enhance their knowledge and skills. Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director of CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, emphasized the importance of integrating rigorous research practices with effective communication strategies to amplify the impact of scientific endeavors. He also highlighted IIIM Jammu's role in fostering collaborative networks among scientific institutions in the region, aimed at driving knowledge sharing and innovation to contribute to the advancement of science and technology. Dr. Ahmed stressed the importance of aligning research initiatives with sustainable development goals (SDGs) and called for a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) through research and innovation. Addressing the critical issue of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Dr. Ahmed underscored the necessity of protecting intellectual property to encourage innovation and ensure that researchers benefit from their work. He affirmed that IIIM Jammu is dedicated to promoting an ecosystem that fosters creativity while safeguarding the rights of inventors and researchers. The workshop included insightful lectures on various key topics such as patent filing, science communication, and the application and commercialization of IPR. Experts such as Dr. Lipika Patnaik (CSIR-IPU, New Delhi), Dr. Manish Mohan Gore (CSIR-NIScPR, New Delhi), Dr. Kancherla Prasad, and Dr. Love Sharma from IIIM Jammu delivered these sessions, offering valuable insights on the fundamentals of science communication and IPR. Er. Abdul Rahim, Head of the RMBD & IST Division, provided an overview of the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiatives and emphasized the importance of skill development in the rapidly evolving scientific field. He stressed the need for a highly skilled workforce to keep pace with advancing technologies and research methodologies. The workshop attracted a diverse range of participants from various academic and research backgrounds, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the scientific community. Representatives from several prominent institutions participated, contributing to a productive exchange of ideas and experiences. The event was conducted by Dr. Mir M. Asrar, Scientist, with Dr. Nasir-Ul-Rashid, Senior Scientist, delivering the formal vote of thanks, rounding off a successful and informative session. |
