Early Times Report MENDHAR, Feb 1: In a major breakthrough against vehicle theft, Mendhar Police today apprehended two individuals involved in a series of motorcycle thefts, leading to the recovery of three stolen motorcycles and one car. The arrests were made following a well-coordinated operation based on specific intelligence inputs. Acting on credible information, a special naka (checkpoint) was set up at Aangaala Chowk, where alert police personnel conducted thorough checks on passing vehicles. During the operation, two youths were intercepted while riding a motorcycle without a registration number plate. Upon being stopped, they were asked to produce valid documents for the motorcycle but failed to do so, raising immediate suspicion. Upon sustained questioning, both individuals confessed to stealing the motorcycle from the Pathaana Teer area. They were identified as: Sameer Khan, son of Mohd Azam Khan, resident of Dharana, Tehsil Mendhar Imtiaz Hussain, son of Mohd Taj, resident of Salwah, currently residing in Gohlad, Mendhar Based on their disclosure, police conducted follow-up operations, resulting in the recovery of: Two additional motorcycles (one bearing registration number JK12B 3394, and two without number plates) One Hyundai i10 car (bearing registration number 2199), suspected to be linked to criminal activities The swift and strategic action by the police not only led to the recovery of stolen property but also reinforced the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing in curbing vehicle thefts in the region. SSP Poonch, Sh. Shafket Hussain (JKPS), commended the efforts of Mendhar Police for their vigilance and dedication in tackling crime.
