MCM celebrates Basant Panchmi with havan and Saraswati puja

CHANDIGARH, Feb 5: In a befitting celebration of Basant Panchmi, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh marked the festival that heralds the beginning of spring season with havan and Saraswati puja. The celebration began on an auspicious note as the Arya Samaj Committee of the college organised havan yajna wherein Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan, staff members, and students prayed before the holy fire amidst the chanting of mantras, and sought the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The staff members and students born in the month of January were blessed with garlands by the Principal. The students who won first prize in the national-level Havan Yajna Competition held at Sohan Lal DAV College, Ambala, were also felicitated by the Principal on this occasion. The havan yajna was followed by Saraswati puja under the aegis of the Music Department of the college.
Ms. Suman Mahajan greeted the staff and students on this festival of spiritual enlightenment, and reiterated that as this festival spiritually signifies dispelling of ignorance and gloom, we should work towards spreading joy and spiritual awakening around us.
