Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit has demanded ban on disposable paper cups in view of the possibility of fatal diseases like cancer. In a press conference held today at the party's state central office, state chief Manish Sahni said that the trend of consuming tea and other hot beverages in disposable paper cups is increasing. Today, tea, coffee and other hot beverages are served in disposable cups made of paper at railway stations, airports, hospitals and other places. He said that according to a recent study, a layer of hydrophobic film is usually applied to make these cups, which is mainly made of plastic. This plastic, reaching our body through these beverages, causes fatal diseases like cancer. Sahni said that recently special treatment for cancer patients was started in AIIMS Jammu. But here also, there is no ban on selling and serving tea and other hot beverages in disposable cups made of paper in canteens and other outlets. Sahni has demanded the Jammu and Kashmir administration and the concerned departments to issue instructions to ban the use of use and throw paper cups. Along with this, tea lovers have been advised to take care of their health and use earthen kulhars, glass and steel glasses. |
