Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: FICCI FLO JKL has taken another step toward empowering young women by launching the second batch of the Digital Literacy Program in Financial Awareness at Govt. College for Women (GCW), Parade. This initiative, designed to equip students with essential financial and digital skills, was supported by Dr. Ravinder Kumar Tickoo, Principal, GCW Parade, and Dr. Seema Malpotra, Convener, Women Study Centre. The new batch enrolls 30 students, who will undergo training through a structured curriculum provided by the NIIT Foundation. Mrs. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson, FICCI FLO JKL, inaugurated the program at the college's computer lab, highlighting the importance of financial literacy in today's digital age. She encouraged students to make the most of this opportunity to strengthen their financial management skills as they step into the workforce. She also acknowledged Dr. Seema Malpotra's role in facilitating this initiative. Additionally, he stressed the importance of understanding investment opportunities, such as mutual funds and stocks, to help women make informed financial decisions as they enter the workforce. He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting all future initiatives by FICCI FLO JKL aimed at the holistic development of the students. Speaking to the students, Mrs. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL, underscored the importance of financial literacy in today's digital era. She emphasized how this program will empower the students by equipping them with essential skills to manage their finances effectively as they enter the workforce. Highlighting the significance of the certificate they will receive upon completing the course, Mrs. Gupta motivated the students to take full advantage of this opportunity to build a strong foundation for their financial independence. The course content shall cover key topics such as an introduction to financial concepts, the basics of savings, banking, insurance, financial planning, and mobile banking. This knowledge will enable the students to navigate the complexities of the financial world with confidence. To ensure effective delivery, the program will be facilitated by resource persons Dr. Seema Malpotra, Convenor, Women Study Centre, Dr. Nitu Sharma, Asst. Professor Home Science Dept., Prof. Mohd. Qayoom, Asst. Professor Economics Dept., Prof. Sukhvinder Kour Asst. Professor Commerce Depart. and Dr. Iesha Sharma Asst. Professor English Depart., who have undergone specialized training by NIIT Foundation.
