Rajouri, Feb 12: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), in collaboration with District Police Rajouri, organized an awareness program on the three newly enacted criminal laws of India. The session aimed to educate students, faculty, and the general public about the significant changes introduced in the Indian judicial system.The program focused on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). In his message, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, appreciated the collaboration between NSS BGSBU and District Police Rajouri. He reiterated the university’s commitment to promoting legal awareness among students and the broader community, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in fostering responsible citizenship. Registrar, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza (JKAS), also lauded the efforts of NSS BGSBU and District Police Rajouri in organizing the awareness program. He emphasized the need for students to stay informed about legal developments and actively contribute to a law-abiding society. Senior officers of the District Police Rajouri who were present on the occasion included Dr. Vinay Gadge (IPS), Shri S.J. Singh (SP Operations), Sarfaraz Ahmad (Senior Prosecution Officer) and Satish Kumar,DySP. They elaborated on the key provisions of the new laws, highlighting their role in ensuring faster justice, strengthening law enforcement, and safeguarding citizen rights. In his opening remarks, Dr. Parvez Abdullah, Coordinator NSS BGSBU, welcomed the guests and participants. He emphasized the importance of legal awareness among youth and commended the efforts of District Police Rajouri in partnering with NSS BGSBU for this crucial initiative. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, students and faculty members. An interactive session followed, where attendees engaged in discussions and sought clarifications on various aspects of the new laws. |
