Early Times Report POONCH, Feb 13: The Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal, convened a meeting today at the DC Office Complex to assess the operations of the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Mendhar. During the meeting, the Principal of the school provided an overview of the current facilities and highlighted additional requirements for the institution. Currently, 180 students are enrolled, with an expected increase of 60 students this year. DC Vikas Kundal directed the Tehsildar Mendhar to demarcate the land for the EMRS and prepare the relevant revenue records. He approved additional funding for the construction of a girls' hostel to enhance accommodation facilities. To streamline the academic activities, the DC instructed the chairman to constitute two Committees, one for paper setting and another for conducting the examination. Emphasizing the importance of quality education for tribal students, DC Kundal stressed the necessity of ensuring that students have access to essential resources and opportunities for extracurricular engagement. He also called for regular monitoring of students' academic progress and the availability of requisite facilities at the residential school. The Eklavya Model Residential School is a significant initiative by the Government of India aimed at providing tribal students with quality education, empowering them to compete on par with their peers nationwide. The meeting was attended by several officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Chief Planning Officer Poonch, PO ICDS, Principal of EMRS Mendhar, Executive Engineer PDD, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, and other relevant officers. |
