Early Times Report LEH, Feb 14: The Health Department, Leh, organized a Health Mela and Outreach Camp under the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) at Tashi Thokmonling Community Hall, focusing on mental health awareness and general healthcare. The event offered free medical check-ups, consultations, and awareness sessions for the local community. As part of the initiative, the District TB Control Society, Leh, conducted a TB Awareness Campaign, educating attendees on tuberculosis symptoms, prevention, and treatment, while stressing the importance of early detection and timely medical care. Dr. Phunstok Wangchuk, Medical Officer, UPHC, addressed the gathering, highlighting the Health Department's outreach initiatives and encouraging community participation. Dr. Tashi Tundup, MD Psychiatry (AIIMS-Delhi) & Consultant Psychiatrist, Leh, provided insights on mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and the importance of seeking timely professional help. The Medical Department provided multiple specialty consultations, including psychiatry, ENT, gynecology, dental care, NCD counseling, nutrition, and ophthalmology. Specialists offered free check-ups and expert advice on relevant diseases. Additionally, the Health Department integrated yoga sessions to promote holistic well-being and combat various health issues. Beneficiaries actively participated in the sessions and gained valuable insights on how regular yoga practice can improve mental and physical health. With the theme "A Healthy Tomorrow Starts with a Free Check-Up Today", the Health Mela underscored the importance of early detection and preventive healthcare. |
