Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 14: A special drive against the use of pressure horns by passenger vehicle and commercial goods carrier drivers has been launched in Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch districts under the supervision of SSP Traffic Rural Jammu, G.L. Sharma (JKPS). The use of pressure horns is strictly prohibited under Section 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as it contributes to noise pollution and causes inconvenience, especially to senior citizens and individuals with health conditions. During the period from January 1 to February 13, 2025, a total of 228 violations related to pressure horns were recorded in these districts, leading to fines amounting to ?22.80 lakh. Dy. SP Traffic Samba-Kathua and Dy. SP Traffic Rajouri-Poonch have been directed to intensify action against such violations. The campaign also includes crackdowns on other traffic violations such as dangerous driving, over-speeding, riding without helmets, mobile phone use while driving, and overloading. Additionally, action will be taken against parents who allow their minor children to drive vehicles. The Traffic Police urge the public to follow road safety rules to ensure safer roads and minimize travel-related inconveniences. |
