Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) convened its 40th Board of Management (BoM) meeting under the chairmanship of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu. The meeting was attended by esteemed members, including Prof. T.R. Sharma, Former DDG (Crop Sciences), Prof. N.A. Ganai, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof. M.S. Chauhan, Vice Chancellor, GB Pant University, Prof. V.P. Sharma, Director, Mushroom Development, Solan, Sh. Mahesh Chand, Director General (Codes), Finance Department, Sandeep Seointa, Additional Secretary, Agriculture Production Department, Sh. J.L. Sharma, Progressive Farmer, Prof. S.K. Gupta, Director Research, Prof. S.E.H. Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, and Prof. R. Peshin, Director Education, SKUAST-Jammu. During the meeting, Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, presented a comprehensive report on the university's key achievements since the last BoM meeting. Notable progress was highlighted in areas such as patents awarded, newly released crop varieties, and extension activities aimed at enhancing farmers' income. The board members commended SKUAST-Jammu's advancements particularly in research and outreach initiatives. Sh. J.L. Sharma, on behalf of the farming community expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for launching community radio services recognizing its impact on agricultural awareness and farmer empowerment. Following the presentation, Prof. Anil Kumar, Ex-Officio Member Secretary introduced the agenda items which were deliberated and passed by the Board. Key decisions included; Reallocation of Assistant Professor positions at the Institute of Biotechnology; eligibility qualifications for teaching positions in the Faculty of Dairy Technology; strengthening of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, renaming of Faculty of Basic Sciences into Faculty of Basic Sciences and Humanities; creation of the Directorate of Student Welfare as a separate entity; selection of an Executive Engineer for SKUAST-Jammu; approval of degrees, gold medals and merit certificates for the 9th Convocation; approval of voluntary retirement of a SKUAST employee and Grant of Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) for scientists in the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences. The meeting concluded with a formal vote of thanks extended by Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu. |
