Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 17: Government College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar, inaugurated its two-day International Conference on "Bridging Disciplines: Unlocking Innovations through Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Challenges" in hybrid mode. The event brought together academicians, researchers, students, and policymakers to explore the transformative impact of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing global challenges. The conference commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a recitation of Saraswati Vandana, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Director of Colleges, J&K Higher Education Department, addressed the gathering virtually, emphasizing the necessity of cross-disciplinary collaboration in solving contemporary issues. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol welcomed participants, stressing the importance of integrating diverse academic perspectives for meaningful research and real-world impact. Conference Convenor Prof. Nisha Bhagat introduced the event's objectives and significance. A keynote address was delivered by Dr. Jocelyn Rivera Lutap, a distinguished architect and educator from the Philippines, on "Bridging Disciplines, Preserving Legacies: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Heritage Conservation." She shared global insights on heritage conservation and sustainable development, citing case studies from Kashmir, Japan, and the Philippines. The day also featured the release of the Compendium of Abstracts, highlighting scholarly contributions. The first technical session saw insightful presentations by faculty members and students, chaired by Dr. Lutap, while the second hybrid session was led by Ms. Arushi Malhotra from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Head of the Economics Department. The conference continues, fostering innovation and collaborative research to address modern challenges.
