Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 17: SKUAST-Jammu organized a one-day training program on "Processing and Value Addition of Seasonal Fruits" at Bhagwati Nagar, Talab Tillo, Jammu, under the guidance of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor. The event was part of the DST-funded project on "Documentation, Revival, and Upscaling of Indigenous Knowledge Systems" in the Pir Panjal and Shivalik Ranges of Jammu & Kashmir. The project is led by Dr. Anil Bhat, Associate Director Research at SKUAST-Jammu. The training aimed to empower rural farm women by educating them on processing and value addition techniques for seasonal fruits. Around 30 women participated in the hands-on workshop, learning methods to transform seasonal fruits into value-added products that could enhance their income and promote sustainable agricultural practices. Dr. Julie D. Bandral, Professor and Co-Principal Investigator of the project, inaugurated the session and demonstrated techniques for fruit preservation and processing. The program was managed by Dr. Akshay Deep, Dr. Maninder Singh, and Mr. Rohit Kumar, who ensured the smooth coordination of the training. The program aims to promote income-generation opportunities for rural women while preserving indigenous knowledge. |
