Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 18: Dr. P.S. Sudan, Director of Animal Husbandry Kashmir, reviewed the functioning of the poultry sector during his visit to the Poultry Project cum LPP at Hariparbath, Srinagar. The visit focused on enhancing poultry farming as a means of employment generation and economic growth. The review meeting included key officials such as the Joint Director Poultry, Deputy Directors, Livestock Development Officers, Veterinary Assistant Surgeons, and representatives from the poultry sector. Discussions revolved around the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Capex, and NABARD-funded infrastructure projects. Dr. Sudan emphasized the poultry sector's potential to double farmers' income and create employment. He reiterated the department's commitment to implementing the Integrated Poultry Development Project (IPDP) and HADP under the directives of the Honourable Minister of APD and Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary of APD. "We have few fields left where employment can be expanded, and poultry is one of them," Dr. Sudan said, stressing the need for innovative techniques in poultry processing and by-product technology to support entrepreneurs. During his visit, he assessed the farm's management, feed requirements, and overall functionality, interacting with officials to understand the challenges they face. The Joint Director Poultry briefed him on ongoing development efforts aimed at strengthening the poultry sector in Kashmir.
