Asarwan village achieves 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' certification in presence of MLA Sham Lal Sharma | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 19: In a significant stride towards ensuring potable water access for all, Asarwan village in the Lower Bhalwal (Mishriwala) Panchayat of Jammu North constituency has been certified under the 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' initiative. The certification was formalized during a Gram Sabha organized by the Jal Shakti Department under the 'Jal Jeevan Mission' program. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu North and former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma; District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Bharat Bhushan; Raipur Domana Mandal President Rohit Verma; former Sarpanch Pallavi Verma; Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti Department Rocky Mahajan; Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) Rohit Vadera; Assistant Executive Engineer (Mechanical) Vishal Khajuria; senior party workers; and local residents. Addressing the gathering, MLA Sham Lal Sharma emphasized the transformative impact of the 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' scheme, stating, "Ensuring that every household has access to clean and safe drinking water is not just a goal but a mission we are committed to achieving. This initiative empowers our rural communities and enhances their quality of life." Sharma lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision behind the scheme, noting, "The 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' initiative reflects our Prime Minister's dedication to inclusive development. It addresses a fundamental need and showcases the government's resolve to uplift every section of society." Highlighting his commitment to Jammu North, Sharma added, "Achieving 100% water supply coverage in Jammu North is a top priority. We are working diligently to ensure that every household receives a reliable water connection. I urge the Jal Shakti Department to implement effective management practices to streamline this process and overcome any challenges." The 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' initiative, part of the broader 'Jal Jeevan Mission,' aims to provide piped water supply to every rural household by 2024. This program emphasizes community involvement and active participation of Gram Sabhas in certifying villages that have achieved the objective of ensuring tap water connections to all households. During the Gram Sabha, officials from the Jal Shakti Department provided detailed insights into the implementation process of the scheme and addressed queries from the villagers. The attendees were also informed about other welfare schemes introduced by the central government, aiming to improve the quality of life in rural areas. DDC Chairman Shri Bharat Bhushan, in his address, highlighted the significance of community participation in the successful implementation of government schemes. He urged the villagers to take collective responsibility for the maintenance of the water supply infrastructure to ensure its sustainability. The event concluded with a unanimous resolution by the Gram Sabha, certifying Asarwan as a 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' village, marking a significant milestone in the region's development journey. |
