Jammu, Feb 20: LIC employees across Jammu and Kashmir, under the Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association (NZIEA), Srinagar Division, observed a one-hour walkout strike today, demanding immediate recruitment in Class-3 & 4 cadres. The strike was held as part of a nationwide protest called by the All India Insurance Employees’ Association (AIIEA). Leading the demonstration at D.O. Cell, Jammu, Com. Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secretary, NZIEA, highlighted the severe staff shortage, stating that LIC’s workforce has drastically reduced from 57,441 in 2017 to 42,362 in December 2024, despite an increased workload. He also criticized the outsourcing of Class-4 jobs and urged the management to expedite the recruitment process. Additionally, the strike expressed strong resentment over AIIEA’s non-recognition, despite having over 80% membership, unlike other public sector financial institutions. Key speakers included: Com.
