KVK Reasi concludes three days training programme | | | Early Times Report REASI, Feb 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of Jammu (SKUAST-J) concluded three days training programme on nutri-mix formula for pregnant and lactating women here today at KVK Reasi which was attended by number of rural women from different blocks of the district. The programme was organised in collaboration with JKRLM. The programme was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Vice Chancellor Prof. B.N. Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension (DE) Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. Different types of sessions were arranged during the programme. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Chief Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi while addressing the participants spoke on the importance of different types of nutri-mix dishes for the pregnant and lactating rural women. He highlighted the pulses premix, edible seed premix, ragi mix etc. He elaborated the nutritive value of pulses, millets,f ruits and vegetables. He said that farmers should avail the benefits of such types of programmes. Dr. Jagmohan Singh, Professor & Head, Division of Post Harvest Technology, SKUAST-J guided participants on various nutri-mix products and demonstrated the preparation of Ragi Malt. He spoke on the nutritive value of milt based products and encouraged rural women on entrepreneurship development in food processing. Dr.Neeraj Gupta, Prof., Division of Post-Harvest Technology, SKUAST-J spoke on the nutritive value of millets and demonstrated the preparation of Utpam and other Ragi products. She stressed on women empowerment and SHGs formation. Dr.Lalit Upadhyay spoke on millets like pearl millet, little millet, foxtail, kodo, barnyard, finger millet etc. and their value addition. He added that millets are high in protein, dietary fiber and antioxidants. Dr.Arvinder Kumar highlighted the value added products of millets for more returns and discussed on the marketing potential and branding of millets products. He added that the income of small and marginal farmers can be augmented through the millets as millets are climate friendly and can be grown with less water and other resources. Interactive sessions were also arranged during the event during the participants asked various quarries which were answered satisfactorily by the participants. During the programme an exhibition depicting various kinds of technologies was also arranged for the participants. A field visit was also arranged during the programme during which various kinds of units were demonstrated to the participants. The participation certificates were also awarded to the participants during the event. The programme was co-ordinated by Nodal Officer, JKRLM, Reasi Jugal Magotra. Programme was assisted by Jagdish Kumar, Manohar Lal, Mohd. Iqbal and concluded by Dr. Arvinder Kumar with the formal vote of thanks. |
