Jammu, Feb 21: Shri Ranbir Campus, Central Sanskrit University, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, celebrated Matrabhasha Divas with great enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of linguistic diversity and the preservation of mother tongues. The event featured various activities aimed at promoting regional languages and their role in cultural identity and intellectual growth. The celebration was presided over by Prof. Shreedhar Mishra, Director of the campus, with Prof. Satish Kumar Kapoor as the event coordinator. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Mishra emphasized the significance of Matrabhasha Divas in safeguarding India’s rich linguistic heritage, while Prof. Kapoor underscored the deep connection between language and identity, encouraging students to take pride in their mother tongues. Competitions and Student Participation The event featured multiple competitions, including essay writing, poster making, and elocution, where students demonstrated their linguistic talents in languages such as Odia, Himachali, Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Hindi. • In the Odia category, students actively participated in essay writing, showcasing their creativity and proficiency. • The Himachali section saw notable performances by Prashi Sharma, Bhagat Ram, Anamika, and Babita in essay writing, elocution, and poster making. • In Bhojpuri and Maithili, participants like Deepanshu Jha, Ranjit Upadhyay, Manohar Thakur, and Sahil Jha engaged in elocution and essay writing. • For Hindi, students such as Mrityunjay Kumar and Rohit Dubey excelled in the essay competition. Judging Panel and Event Schedule A distinguished panel of experts was appointed to evaluate the competitions: • Poster-making competition was judged by Dr. Neetu Sharma and Dr. Shweta Sood. • Elocution competition was assessed by subject experts, including Dr. Kamal Kishore (Dogri), Dr. Madan Kumar Jha (Odia & Maithili), Dr. Rekha Mishra (Hindi), Dr. Shweta Sood (Himachali), Dr. Kundan Kumar Jha (Maithili), and Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh (Bhojpuri). The essay and poster-making competitions began at 11:00 AM, while the elocution contest took place at 2:30 PM. The celebration provided a platform for students to showcase their linguistic skills and reinforced the role of mother tongues in strengthening cultural roots. The event concluded with a strong message of preserving and promoting linguistic diversity as a means of fostering unity and heritage. |
