GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur Celebrates 75 Years of Indian Constitution

UDHAMPUR, Feb 22: To commemorate the celebration regarding 75 years of Adoption of Constitution of India and 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized a series of activities under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Principal of the College. The activities included Preamble recitation (Pledge), Awareness Lecture regarding Fundamental rights and Duties and Interactive Panel Discussion on understanding the Preamble. The event started with pledge taking ceremony, the students and the staff took pledge with great zeal and enthusiasm. This emphasized the importance of the Constitution as a symbol of national pride and identity. Dr. Seema Arora, Principal of the college highlighted the need for a balanced approach to rights and duties, emphasizing that every citizen should be awared and responsible for the country’s progress. She focused that the celebration of 75 years of adoption of the Constitution of India is a momentous occasion, marking a magnificent milestone in the country’s history. The celebration was a testament to India’s commitment to democratic values and its Constitution, which has been the cornerstone of its governance and development over the past 75 years. In awareness lecture, Dr. Mohd Mubariq Mahire delivered a lecture on Fundamental Rights and Duties of the citizens. He stressed that the Constitution of India guarantees certain fundamental rights to its citizens which are enshrined in Part III of the Constitution. These rights are essential for the development and well-being of individuals and are protected by the Constitution. This was followed by an interactive panel discussion in which more than 20 students and staff members participated. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sunil Tanoch made aware the students about the role of Dr. B.R Ambedkar in framing constitution of India. He further said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also played a pivotal role in shaping India’s Constitution. He was instrumental in drafting the Constitution, particularly in the early stages. The program ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Akhter Hussain.
In the end the Principal praised the students for taking part in the activities as well as staff too for organizing such events. The programme is organized by Department of Political Science in collaboration with the Department of Sociology. The convenor of the event was Dr. Sunil Tanoch. Dr. Mohd Mubariq Mahire acted as co-convenor and Dr. Akhter as organizer of the events.
