Katra, Feb 22: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), Kakryal, Jammu, in collaboration with the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Lifesavers Association of India, is conducting a three-day Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider course from February 21 to 23, 2025. The program aims to equip faculty and staff members with essential life-saving skills.
Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director of SMVDIME, extended his heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, for his support in operationalizing SMVDIME. In his welcome address, Dr. Sharma emphasized the significance of BLS and ACLS training for faculty and staff, urging participants to train at least ten more individuals in their respective departments to expand the reach of this critical knowledge.
The training is being jointly conducted by ACLS-certified instructors from GMC Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), and the Health Department of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Vanilla Chopra, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Anaesthesia, and Course Coordinator, is spearheading the program. Dr. Muthu Mathavan, Facility Director of SMVDNSH, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the dedication of all involved.
Veteran AHA instructors Dr. Rakesh Kumar and Dr. Sunil Kumar are leading the practical training sessions, where 60 medical professionals, including physicians and nurses, are mastering basic and advanced resuscitation techniques. This initiative underscores SMVDIME’s commitment to strengthening emergency medical care and empowering healthcare professionals with vital life-saving skills.
