GDC Samba, GDC Hiranagar celebrate National Science Day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 28: SPPND GDC Samba and GLDM GDC Hiranagar jointly organized a two-day event to celebrate National Science Day, commemorating Dr. C.V. Raman's discovery of the Raman Effect, which earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics (1930). The event, themed "Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat," emphasized the role of young minds in advancing India's scientific and technological progress. The first day witnessed a seminar and symposium at GLDC Hiranagar while the second day celebration at SSPND GDC Samba featured science model demonstrations by 27 students from various schools, including HSS Girls Samba, HSS Boys Samba, Lord Krishna HSS, Kristu Jyoti Convent School, Adarsh Vidyapeeth HSS, Bal Shiksha HSS, Nanakchak GHS, B.B.N Institute of Intellectuals (Vijaypur), and Shri Ram Universal School (Vijaypur), along with students from GDC Samba. The event provided a platform for students to translate theoretical knowledge into practical innovations, fosterering scientific inquiry and creativity. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Pankaj Bandhoria, Convenor, Innovation & Incubation Cell, GDC Samba. Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri, Principal, GDC Samba in her address emphasised the importance of nurturing a scientific temperament and that A Viksit Bharat-a developed India-needs scientific minds that think beyond limits. She lauded the collaborative efforts of both colleges in promoting scientific inquiry. Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna, Principal, GDC Hiranagar, as Special Guest highlighted the critical role of science in daily life and encouraged students to pursue careers in research and innovation. Sh. Kewal Krishan, CEO Samba, as Special Guest, stressed the significance of the Raman Effect and its increasing applications in various scientific fields. Students showcased a diverse array of scientific models focusing on renewable energy, AI-driven technology, eco-friendly infrastructure, futuristic healthcare solutions, drip irrigation etc, reflecting their vision for a better tomorrow. reflecting their creativity and understanding of scientific principles. The competition was adjudged by Dr. Poonam Kamotra and Dr. Ramkrishan (GDC Hiranagar), Prof. Rashi Gupta, and Prof. Mala Bhasin (GDC Samba). In the college category, Suvidha Sambyal secured the first position, followed by Vansh Bhandari in second, while Narayan, Ankit, and Vansh shared the third prize. In the schools' category, Kristu Jyoti Convent School won first place, Adarsh Vidyapeeth HSS clinched the second, and GHSS Samba secured third place, with consolation prizes awarded to B.B.N Institute of Intellectuals, Vijaypur, and Shri Ram Universal School, Vijaypur. The event was organised by the Incubation and Innovation Cell of the college with the proceedings conducted by Dr. Asha Singh, while Assoc. Prof. Renu Rajput delivered the vote of thanks. CV Raman Science Club of the college also organised a vibrant Poster making contest and a preliminary presentation of Model Making Competition. This collaborative initiative not only honored India's scientific legacy but also inspired students to explore innovation and research, aligning with the nation's vision of Viksit Bharat. |
