Early Times Report RAJOURI, Mar 17: In a significant step towards green campus initiatives, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), launched a Plantation Drive on the university campus today. The initiative aims to enhance the green cover, promote ecological balance, and foster a culture of environmental responsibility among students and faculty members. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal emphasized the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change and maintaining biodiversity. He urged students , faculty and staff to actively participate in such initiatives to ensure a cleaner and greener future. Prof. Jawaid Iqbal stated, "A green campus is not just an aesthetic choice; it is a necessity for a sustainable future. Trees play a fundamental role in reducing carbon footprints, improving air quality, and preserving biodiversity. As an institution of higher learning, BGSBU is committed to fostering environmental stewardship among its students and faculty. This plantation drive is a step towards creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly campus." On the occasion, Prof. M. J. Warsi, Dean Academic Affairs, also planted a sapling, reinforcing the university's commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation.
