Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Mar 17: Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan today inaugurated a Compost Unit for Wet Waste here at Shalamar. The initiative forms part of efforts to manage and recycle wet waste, transforming it into useful organic fertilizers. The newly constructed unit, built at an approximate cost of ?22 lakh has a capacity to process 500 kg of wet waste at a time. The project has been developed by the Department of Horticulture, Planning and Marketing in collaboration with the Municipal Council Kishtwar. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of proper waste management and directed the Municipal authorities to collect wet waste, such as kitchen scraps, vegetable waste besides other waste from households and establishments. This waste will be segregated and converted into valuable organic fertilizers.
