KVK Poonch kickstarted 05 day training on Natural Farming | | | Early Times Report POONCH, Mar 20: KVK Poonch working under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu kickstarted five days training programme on Natural Farming for Krishi Sakhis at its office campus. The training programme is being conducted as per the guidelines of the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) project and under the able guidance of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. B. N. Tripathi, and Director Extension, Dr. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-Jammu. While delivering the welcome and inaugural remarks during the first day through virtual mode, Chief Scientist & Head KVK Poonch, Dr. Ajay Gupta said that to ensure sustainability and food security, it is important to understand the ideology behind the Natural Farming. He elaborated that Natural Farming aims to reduce risks associated with the use of chemical fertilizers and encouraging farmers to use low-cost homemade formulations based on cowdung, eliminate the use of chemical fertilizers, and industrial pesticides. Dr. Muzafar Mir Fruit Scientist outlined the course content for five days training programme and said that krishi sakhis have to play a vital role for large scale of adoption of Natural farming in villages, panchayats and blocks. Dr. Mushtaq Guroo KVK Poonch gave a detailed lecture on concept and importance of Natural Farming and said that Natural Farming invariably produces good quality food and is a cost effective and regenerative agricultural practice. He emphasized that Natural Farming formulations can be easily and wisely integrated with modern technology for the benefit of farming community. District Agriculture Officer, Sardar Harvinder Singh, on the occasion said that women constitute the backbone of agricultural Workforce and as such can be easily trained for the adoption of Natural Farming for the betterment ecosystem in the long run. The participating krishi sakhis/Community Resource Persons (CRPs) thanked the KVK officials for initiating such type of training programmes that are beneficial both from environmental perspective and agricultural sustainability. A total of 12 krishi sakhis from six clusters are to be trained during the five days duration w.e.f 20-25 March, 2025.The first day training programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ramandeep Kour. |
