FOIJ expresses resentment over meager turnover incentive release | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 22: A meeting of Federation of Industries, Jammu under the chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan and attended by its Co-Chairmen Virendra Jain, Jatinder Aul, S.C. Dutta, Ajit Bawa, Sanjay Langar, Secretary General, Viraaj Malhotra, Convenor and other office bearers of FOIJ. The meeting was convened to show resentment for the release of a meager amount of approximately 10% of the Turnover Incentive claims submitted by the existing industrial units of Jammu Province and termed it as betrayal with the industrial units of Jammu providing direct and indirect employment to lacs of local people of J&K UT. The members present in the meeting were dissatisfied with the release of only 10% against the Turnover claims filed for the financial year 2022-23 which is just "a drop in the ocean". It is pertinent to mention here that against the total claims filed for the financial year 2021-22 amounting to Rs. 207 crores, the Industries Department released only 15% payment in 2024.While the industrial sector was waiting for the balance amount of 2021-22, the Govt., instead, has released only 10% of the claims filed for the year 2022-23 resulting great resentment among the existing industrial units of J&K UT. The Govt. has betrayed the industrial sector of J&K by diluting the Turnover Incentive which was declared, promised and much publicized that the Govt. shall provide Turnover incentive @ 3% , 2% to the industry of J&K to make the existing industry competitive which is very unjustified on the part of the Govt. It is a matter of great concern that Govt. has reneged despite promises made earlier, the released incentives falls short of expectation, leaving the industry to struggle. Federation of Industries, Jammu demand that the Govt. should release the actual claims for the year 2021-22 and 2022-23 in one go. The incentive is inadequate and does not reflect the Govt.'s commitment to support the sustenance of the industry in J&K. It has been brought toournotice that thetreasury is denying the payment for the bills in respect of turnover incentive being sent by the industries deptt. to the treasuries for the reasons best known to them only. We request Chief Minister and Principal Secretary (Finance) Santosh P. Vaidya to personally intervene in the matter and issue the instructions to the treasury officers to release the opayments against the bills of turnover incentives.
