Early Times Report DARHAL, Mar 25: Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal has inaugurated a week-long Fit India initiative, encouraging students and faculty to engage in various health and fitness activities. Organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and National Service Scheme (NSS), the initiative is being held under the esteemed patronage of Principal Prof. Zamir Ahmed Mirza. The event commenced with an invigorating Yoga session, led by Rahul Sangra, Head of the Department of Education and a certified yoga expert. Participants, including students and faculty, practiced asanas (yoga postures) and pranayamas (breath control exercises) to emphasize the importance of mindfulness and physical well-being. "I am grateful to see such enthusiastic participation. Yoga plays a vital role in enhancing both physical and mental health, and I encourage everyone to make it a daily habit," said Mr. Sangra during his lecture on yoga's significance. Upcoming Activities The Fit India initiative will feature a range of engaging events, including: Fit India Run - A community running event promoting cardiovascular health. Cycling Events - Encouraging eco-friendly transport and fitness. Aerobic Exercises - Fun cardio sessions to boost endurance. Fitness Challenges - Competitive activities fostering teamwork and wellness. Dr. Mohd Saleem Wani (IQAC Head) and Dr. Mohd Akhlaq (NSS Coordinator) reaffirmed their commitment to promoting fitness among students. Faculty members, including Dr. Ghulam Abbas, Dr. Taseem Ahmed, Dr. Anzar Ahmed, Dr. Mukhtar, Dr. Muzammil, Dr. Sumina, and Dr. Sageer, actively participated in the inaugural session.
