Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 25: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized a Literary- cum- Cultural Program at GDC, Akhnoor today under the guidance of Smt. Harvinder Kour JKAS, Secretary, JKAACL. S. Jang S. Verman, well known artist, journalist & writer was the chief guest of the programme whereas S. Popinder, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL, & Incharge programme, and poet Suraj Parkash Rattan were the guests of honour on this occasion. Dr. Monika Malhotra Incharge Principal was present on behalf of te college. The programme was attended by the staff and the students of the college. The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Monika Malhotra. In her address, she said that it's a welcome step taken by the Cultural Academy to reach the talent of the youth of the college, and which might get the students display their proficiency in different talent forms. Dr. Jagmohan Singh, Deptt. of Punjabi gave a brief of the details of the day's programme. During the programme a Key- note address was presented by Sh. Jang S. Verman, delved deep on the background of Punjabi literature in Jammu & Kashmir and the role of media in promoting culture of the region. The students presented Giddha, Bhangra and Dogri Dance sequences. Sh. Suraj Parkash, senior Punjabi poet and a number of students presented their poems on the themes of various subjects. Dr. Anju Bala from English Deptt. expressed her views on this occasion. She motivated the students to feel proud of the use of mother tongue at home without any hesitation. In his address, Sh. Popinder Singh emphasized on the need of involvement of the young generation in creative and talent based activities along with their academics.
