Early Times Report RS PURA, Mar 26: The Department of Political Science successfully organized an extension lecture on "Constitution and Governance in India" celebrating 75 years of Indian Constitution and 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event witnessed an enthusiastic response from students, faculty members, and esteemed guests, who gathered to explore the principles and intricacies of India's Constitution and its governance framework. The distinguished speaker for the session was Dr. B.B.Anand Retired Principal, a renowned expert in constitutional law and public governance. Delivering a thought-provoking lecture, he delved into the foundational principles of the Indian Constitution, including justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, while also addressing the evolving nature of governance in the country. The session highlighted the relevance of the Constitution in contemporary times, focusing on key themes such as federalism, separation of powers, judicial independence, and the role of citizens in a vibrant democracy. The lecture also addressed current challenges in governance and the importance of upholding constitutional values. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Preetpal Kour Principal of the College expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, noting, "This lecture has been an enlightening experience for everyone present, reinforcing the significance of constitutional values in fostering good governance and active citizenship." She further remarked that this lecture marks another step in the institution's commitment to promoting academic discourse and awareness on critical socio-political issues, fostering a deeper understanding of the pillars of democracy. The interactive session followed the lecture saw attendees engaging with the speaker, raising questions about the practical implications of constitutional provisions in governance and policymaking. The entire event was organized by Dr. Rakesh Choudhary, HOD Political Science. The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony where winners of Quiz competition namely Reena Devi of semester 4, Sonali and Vishalli from semester 6 were felicitated. The participants of students's pannel discussion on the theme "exploring Preamble, Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties namely Jhanvi Majotra, Meenu Choudhary, Tinishka and Sourav Heer were also felicitated. The event was attended by Dr. Sudesh Kumar, Prof. Sanjeev Upadhyay, Dr Sunil Mangoch, Prof Rajinder Singh, Dr. Rakesh Kalotra and Prof. Vijeeta Anand.
