Jammu, Mar 26: Cluster University of Jammu convened its 7th Academic Council Meeting to discuss key academic reforms and introduce new programs aimed at enhancing educational opportunities. The Council approved the introduction of Human Genetics, Biochemistry, and Statistics as minor subjects in GGM Science College, a Value-Added Course in Home Science, Commerce as a major in MAM College, and Integrated Programs in Geology and Linguistics. Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Chandrasekar welcomed the members and Prof. Mohammad Mobin, Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Srinagar, as the special invitee. Dr. Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs, presented a 29-item agenda, emphasizing the university’s vision for holistic academic development. Key decisions included: > Launch of a Master’s in Performing Arts (Music & Indian Theatre) > Introduction of the 4th year of the Four-Year Undergraduate Program (FYUGP) > Recognizing college faculty as Ph.D. supervisors > Implementation of UGC guidelines for dual academic programs > A hassle-free migration policy for students from other universities > Introduction of a one-year PG Program from 2026-27 > New programs like PG Geography (GGM Science College), B.Sc. Nursing, and M.Sc. Entrepreneurship in collaboration with EDII The meeting was attended by Registrar Ms. Ankur Mahajan, Controller of Examination Dr. Ranvijay Singh, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Raj Shree Dhar, Dean Research Studies Dr. Satinder Kour, along with faculty, principals, and officials from Cluster Universities of Jammu and Srinagar. Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Chandrasekar expressed gratitude to all members for their active participation. |
