Jammu, Mar 27: Vishwa Bharti College of Education, Akalpur, organized a seminar on the pressing issue of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ on March 26, 2025. The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by President Sh. S.K. Koul, alongside Former President Sh. J.L. Koul, Retired IGP Sh. Yoginder Koul, Prof. A.N. Sadhu, Sh. B.L. Saraf (Retired Session Judge), Dr. R.K. Saproo, and Sh. Virender Dembi. Also present were Principal of Vishwa Bharti College of Education, Prof. Bharti Bhat, Principal of VBPS, Mrs. Annapurna Koul, faculty members, and students, who sought the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The seminar was presided over by Ex-President and founding member Sh. J.L. Koul, who also served as the chief guest. The program began with a welcome address by third-semester students, who also anchored the event. Several students spoke on the dangers of drug abuse, its impact on families and society, drug trafficking, and strategies for combating the menace, including government and private rehabilitation policies. President Dr. S.K. Koul enlightened the gathering with his insights, emphasizing the crucial role of future educators in building a drug-free nation. Sh. Yoginder Koul, Treasurer of the Jammu Unit, highlighted the responsibilities of aspiring teachers in eradicating drug addiction and contributing to society’s well-being. Senior member Sh. J.L. Koul proposed integrating this topic into the B.Ed curriculum to enhance awareness and proactive measures. The seminar also featured a speech competition, judged by an expert panel. The top three performers were awarded trophies and certificates for their outstanding presentations. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by faculty member Prof. Soonam Latta, followed by a refreshment session for all attendees. |
